Car Seat Recycling On April 14-20, 2011
The Scottsdale Fire Department is partnering with Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Safe Kids of Maricopa County and other sponsors for the “Keep our Planet Neat, Recycle your Car Seat” event in honor of Earth Day on April 22.
Car seats have an expiration date of about five years. Families are encouraged to destroy their seats after this five year period so the equipment will not be reused in the community unsafely.
Residents are invited to drop off their car seats to be recycled between April 14 and April 20 at the Lou Witzeman Public Safety Building, 8401 E. Indian School Road, or at Tempe Marketplace, from 8 a.m. to noon, April 22.
For more information, please see the attached flier or contact Public Education Officer Lori Schmidt at (480) 312-1817 or lschmidt@scottsdaleaz.gov.
Scottsdale Public Safety offers seat inspections on the second and fourth Saturday morning of each month by appointment only. Child safety seat checks are not offered at Scottsdale fire stations without an appointment. To schedule an appointment, call (480) 312-BABY.
